Obituaries of Riley family: Isaac, Emma, Anna and Edgar
(submitted by Juli Wooten: juliwooten23@hotmail.com)
Once more it becomes the sad duty to pen the words of sympathy and condolence to a family, once proud and happy in the consciousness of its united members, whose health and strength and love for each other was their daily joy and a blessing for which thatnks were given to an all-wise Master; but which now is broken and the loving ties severed by the inevitable hand of death.  Only a memory is left to the dear ones yet living--a memory to be cherished while life shall endure and  exist until the Lord in His widom shall call them home to be reunited with the loved ones gone before.

The people of Tarkio and vicinity will instantly recall the sad and terrible loss Mrs. I.T. Riley has sustained within the last three months, when a husband, two daughters and a son, have been taken from her side.  The events are sad in the extreme and there are hone in our midst but who feel only the deepest sympathy for Mrs. Riley.

Miss Emma Riley, 22 years old, died the eight day of May and her father, 66 years old, followed the daughter on the thirteenth of May, and ere the community had recovered from the shock it was startled again by the intelligence that the second daughter, Anna, 18 years old, had passed away on the seventheenth of May.  The grasses have scarcely had time to cover the newlymade graves when Edgar, the 20-year old son, bids farewell to earthly ties and departs this life at the family home on July 17.  Previous to his illness which resulted in his in death. this young man was well and favorably known and highly respected throughout this community.  He was a member of the local lodge of Modern Woodmen, and who as a faithful follower and neighbor, always standing ready and willing to assist in everything, noble and good will be greatly missed by his comrades.

Truly the ways of Providence are many and strange and while wer are loth to accept the fate as made to us and are heartbroken over the loss of loved ones, yet the Lord recalls each soul from its earthly abode for some purpose of His own, to dwell with Him, forever, where there will be no parting, where grief is unknown, and where the tempestous waves of life's sea will engulf us no more.
