Helen Ruth Yates services in Tarkio
Funeral services were conducted in Tarkio Feb. 3 at the Presbyterian Church for Helen Ruth Yates, wife of the Rev. William O. (Jack) Yates.
He served as temporary pastor at United Trinity in Hamburg for a time.

 

(Watson news by Mrs. V. L. Herren) Thomas York, son of Archibald and Jula York, was born at Watson, Mo., Feb. 24, 1883, and died at Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs Dec. 18, 1944, aged 61 years, 9 months and 24 days. He had been in poor health for several years, but his last illness was only a few days.  When a boy he united with the Methodist church in Watson. He learned telegraphy and was an operator for the Burlington for a number of years, and was the last of a large family.  The only surviving relatives  are  nieces and nephews:     Lucille Wheare and Lulu   Adams   of Council Bluffs. Pauline Lipps of San Diego, Calif., Gaylord York of Nebraska City, Calvin Lipps of the Bluffs and Pfc. Alfred Lipps of the army. The past few years he had made his home with his nieces and nephews. He had hoped to live to see the nephews in the armed forces back home again, but he was called. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church by the Rev. A. W. Tandy and interment was at the High Creek cemetery.

Those from a distance to attend the funeral of Thomas York were, Mrs Lucille Wheare, Mrs Lulu York and Calvin Lipps of Council Bluffs, Pfc. Alfred Lipps of the army, Mr and Mrs Gaylord York and Mrs Stella Adams of Nebraska City.

 

The community was saddened when word came of the death of Jinx York of Council Bluffs. Several years ago he was a resident of this community. He was born and grew to manhood in Watson. Gaylord York and Calvin Lips of Council Bluffs, were here Monday making arrangements for the funeral which was held at the Methodist church Tuesday. Dec 28, 1944
