McCoy, Jack J. - Jack J. McCoy, the son of Frederick Cecil (F.C.) and Mabel Seiver (Scarlett) McCoy was born September 22, 1921, in Rock Port, Missouri.
He attended Mount Pleasant country school and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1940.

On July 28, 1942, Jack enlisted in the United States Army, serving overseas with the 99th Depot Repair Squadron. He proudly served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged on February 10, 1946.

On June 20, 1947, Jack was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Waits at the Rock Port Christian Church, and they lived and farmed in the Rock Port area their entire married life.

Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rock Port, the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port, and the Disabled American Veterans. Jack passed away December 28, 2008, at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years.

Besides his parents, Jack is preceded in death by two brothers, Willis (Mac) McCoy and Lee Edward (Tiny) McCoy; two sisters-in-law, Mevelyn McCoy and Marjorie McCoy; brother-in-law Lawrence Kish and one grandson, John McCoy.

Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home in Rock Port; one son, Jay McCoy and his wife Joannie, Rock Port; one daughter, Donna Wasserfallen and her husband, David, Wellsville, Kansas; six grandchildren, Lois, Jackie, James, Jacob, Janette and Lisa; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy (Kish) Bredthauer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mires, Bette La Rue Singleton - Bette La Rue (Singleton) Mires, the daughter of Linwood and Roselah (Barrett) Singleton, was born April 23, 1925 in Maryville, Missouri.
She attended school at Burlington Junction, Missouri, graduating in 1943.

On August 9, 1946, Bette was united in marriage to Presley Mires in Troy, Kansas, and they made their home in the Burlington Junction area. Over the years, Bette was employed as a cook at numerous restaurants in Burlington Junction, Maryville, Missouri, and at the State Line Café in Braddyville, Iowa. She was a member of the Burlington Junction Christian Church and a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Bette passed away September 8, 2008, at the Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville at the age of 83 years.

Besides her parents, Bette is preceded in death by her husband Presley, who passed away in 1988; grandson, Michael Douglas; two brothers and two sisters.

Bette is survived by her children, Robert Mires, Gallatin, Missouri, Richard (Burr) Mires and his wife Sheridan, Burlington Junction, Gina Douglas and her husband Melvin, Conroe, Texas, David Mires, St. Joseph, Missouri, and D’Ann Mires, Tarkio, Missouri; five grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Moore, Melvin Thomas - Melvin Thomas Moore, the son of Edward Melvin and Blanche Louzie (McCall) Moore, was born September 18, 1940 in Tarkio, Missouri. Melvin attended Tarkio Country Schools in his youth and Tarkio High School. He served in the United States Air Force for four years.

On March 19, 1982, Melvin was united in marriage to Jo Ann Bales at the United Methodist Church in Tarkio. Melvin was employed with the Missouri Beef Packers in Rock Port for 5 years; he then was employed for twenty-five years at Eaton Corporation, Shenandoah, Iowa, retiring in 2000.

Melvin loved flying and spending time at Gould Peterson Municipal Airport in Tarkio. He passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 68 years.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Elvira J. Kirkpatrick and one infant brother. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann, of the home, Tarkio; four sons, Mike Kenagy, and his wife, Brenda, Laurie, Missouri, Rodney Kenagy, and his wife, Dina, of Gower, Missouri, Jamie Moore, and his wife, Sally, of Denver, Colorado, and Greg Moore, and his wife, Laura, of Tarkio; eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; three brothers, Garland Gene Moore and his wife Dorothy, Forney, Texas, Lonnie J. Moore, Burlington Jct. Missouri, and Edward D. Moore and his wife Carolyn, Afton, Missouri.

Moorman, Carl William - Carl William Moorman, the son of Guy Venable and Hattie Lee (Anderson) Moorman, was born July 12, 1915 in Holt County, Missouri. He attended Mount Pleasant country school east of Rock Port, then Banner country school west of Rock Port.

On September 29, 1935, Carl was united in marriage to Vera Lorene Reeder at the Rock Port Baptist Parsonage by Rev. Goings. Vera preceded him in death. Carl and Vera lived on the family farm until 1940, when they moved to a farm east of Rock Port. They moved to the Stickerod farm north of Rock Port in 1941; the Opp farm south of Rock Port in 1945; the Ray Richards farm west of Rock Port in 1954; and the Marlott farm in 1958. Carl was also employed with the City of Rock Port, Rolf Fertilizer Company, Burke & Sons Lumber Company, and drove a truck for Walter and Ralph Sweeton, all of Rock Port. This was a job Carl would talk about a great deal in his later years. In 1966, he began his employment with Missouri Beef Packers, Rock Port, where ill health forced him to retire in 1976. For the next twenty five years, he volunteered his services at the Rock Port Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member, and the Rock Port Senior Center. In 1975, Carl married Vera Mae Clement. She also preceded him in death.

After living in the Rock Port area all his life, Carl moved to Springfield, Illinois in 2002 to be close to his family. In July, 2004, he moved to Sunrise Manor Care Center in Virden, Illinois. Carl went to be the Lord December 1, 2009 at Sunrise Manor at the age of 94 years. While Carl was a loyal employee and a hard worker, his greatest accomplishments were that he was a gentleman and a good husband, Father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Besides his parents and wives, Carl is preceded in death by his son, Willard Dean Moorman; one still-born son and one sister, Faye Golden. Survivors include his son, Gilbert Moorman and his wife, Mary Jane, Springfield, Illinois; one brother, Roy Moorman and his wife, Norma, Waynesville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Barbara Hug and her husband, Ron, Omaha, Nebraska, Amy Britton and her husband, Jim, Springfield, Illinois, Chad Moorman and his wife, Jenifer, Springfield, Illinois and Adam Moorman and his wife, Stacey, Valerico, Florida; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Morgan, Debra Lynn Schlup - Debra Lynn (Schlup) Morgan, the daughter of Stewart Grant and Virginia Ruth (Young) Schlup was born on September 30, 1956 in Gallatin, Missouri. Debra graduated from Rock Port High School in 1974 and attended Kansas City, Kansas Community College earning her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate. She later received her Certified Medical Technician certificate. Debra was employed at LaVerna Heights Nursing Home as a nurse's assistant/med tech Savannah, Missouri.

In 1984 Debra was united in marriage to Marion D. Morgan. They were later divorced. Debra passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 53 years.

Besides her parents, Debra was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Larry Schlup, sister, Ellen Mae Rosenbohm, nephew, Allen H. Rosenbohm, Jr. and her former husband Marion Morgan. Debra is survived by two sons, Joshua Morgan, St. Joseph, Christopher Morgan, aboard Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; one daughter, Kathayrn Morgan, Bolckow, Missouri; one granddaughter, Lydia Mae Morgan, St. Joseph; one grandson, Gabriel Joseph Morgan, Panama City Beach, Florida; sisters, Judith Anne Leppke and husband, Dave, Humboldt, Kansas, Carolyn Joyce Rosenbohm and husband, Allen, Rock Port, Sandra Lee Sumner, Tennessee; brothers, Michael Schlup and wife, Pamela, Washington, Richard Dwayne Schlup, Shenandoah, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

Moses, Della Elizabeth Calfee - Della Elizabeth (Calfee) Moses, the daughter of Charles Levi and Vera (Honaker) Calfee, was born July 10, 1908 in Elmo, Missouri. She attended Salem Country School and graduated from Elmo High School in 1927.

On December 31, 1928, Della was united in marriage to Fredrick Orville Moses at their pastor’s home in Clarinda, Iowa. They lived in Braddyville, Iowa, College Springs, Iowa, Westboro, Missouri and Blanchard, Iowa. They then moved back to Elmo, following Fred’s retirement, where Della lived until 2007. She then moved to Golden Rod Nursing Home in Clarinda, Iowa. Della passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Clarinda Regional Hospital at the age of 101 years. Della was a member of the Elmo Christian Church and the North Star Rook Club.

Besides her parents, Della is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, who passed away in 1982; two daughters, Freda Webber and Della Ruth Moses; son, Jerry Moses; two grandsons, Mark Bargman and Jerry Allan Moses; two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie Moses, Tarkio, Missouri; Larry Moses and his wife, Linda, Fairfax, Missouri; Carol Bargman and her husband, Bill, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Joy Beemer, and her husband, Dennie, Gravity, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren; sixteen great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Munn, Judith Ellen Gifford - Judith Ellen (Gifford) Munn, the daughter of Clarence Durrell and Carrie (Eaton) Gifford, was born July 31, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska.

She attended South High School, Omaha, graduating in 1947. Judy then attended Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri, receiving her diploma in 1951.

On April 5, 1952, Judy was united in marriage to William Bragg Munn, and they made their home in Tarkio. She was employed by Dr. E.F. Bare, Tarkio, where she worked for 26 years before retiring.

Judy was a member of P.E.O. Chapter FF, Tarkio and the Mule Barn Theatre Guild. She was a very active member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church, serving in many ways, especially being in charge of church dinners. For the last ten years, she was very involved with building a new library and resource facility for the town of Tarkio. She served on the advisory board and worked to make the new Tarkio Resource Center a reality, then helped with the many programs offered at the center to young and old alike.
Judy passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Community Hospital – Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 79 years.

Besides her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband, William B. Munn; and a sister, Ida Schultis.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Dallas Meek, Cary, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Munn, Black Mountain, North Carolina; grandson, Jack Munn, Black Mountain, North Carolina; and sister, Esther Oviatt, Rolla, Missouri.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Services by Davis Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri.
 
Murphy, Clifford McKinley - Clifford McKinley Murphy age 48, died Wed. Feb. 10, 2010 at Rock Port, Missouri.
Cliff was a native of Lewisburg, Tennessee and was currently living in Olathe, Kansas. He was the son of the late Kirby Murphy and Nancy Clymore Karr.

Cliff was an Internet Communication Specialist and of the Christian faith. He enjoyed Nascar racing and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his sister, Sherrie Murphy-Wilkerson of Acworth, Georgia and niece Alisha Simmons-Appling of Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

There are no services scheduled at this time and Cliff's body will be cremated. Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, is in charge of the arrangements.
Metz, Mary DiAnn Mincer - Mary DiAnn Metz was born June 6, 1951 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Edward Mincer and Greta Elizabeth (Boettner) Mincer. DiAnn graduated from Tarkio High School in Tarkio, Missouri. She earned a B.S. degree in Music from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.

DiAnn was united in marriage with Michael Metz at Westboro, Missouri on June 27, 1975. They are the parents of three children: Heather, Nathan and Sean.


DiAnn was a devoted wife, mother, and teacher. She taught instrumental music, vocal and piano for over 35 years. DiAnn most recently taught at the St. James School in Washington, Iowa and Salem School of the Mt. Pleasant School District. In addition to being a helpmate to her husband and his ministry, she was an accomplished pianist and often played for the 5:00 p.m. service at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. She was a member of Kiononia and P.E.O. She enjoyed all outdoor activities and had a real love for nature. DiAnn especially enjoyed hiking, bird watching, flower gardening and cooking. She baked delicious chocolate chip cookies.


DiAnn is survived by her husband, Rev. Michael Metz of Fairfield and the children, Heather Metz of Denver, CO, Nathan Metz of Omaha, NE, and Sean Metz of Des Moines, IA as well as her parents, Edward Mincer of Hamburg, IA and Greta “Liz” Lyden of Rock Port, MO, and siblings, Gary Mincer of Cape Canaveral, FL, Craig Mincer of Lake Toxaway, NC, Kerry Sue Scardina of Omaha, NE, and David and Marty Mincer, both of Hamburg, IA.


Her memory will be cherished by her family, students, and many friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. Words of comfort were given by Rev. Carl Phillips and Rev. Clark Finehout. Organist, Carol Golden accompanied soloist, Becca Cusick who sang, "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" and "Pass It On". Congregational hymns included "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" and "Hymn Of Promise". Usher for the service was Jim Sligar. Casket bearers were Gary Mincer, Craig Mincer, David Mincer, Marty Mincer, Ron Manrose, Jack Scardina, Dustin Barnes and Jason Manrose. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Millikan, Frieda Hennrietta Woltmer - Frieda Hennrietta Millikan, daughter of Herman George and Anna Georgia (Fahseler) Voltmer, was born on September 17, 1919, at Rock Port, Missouri. She passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2003, at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa, at the age of 83. Frieda grew up in Rock Port and attended the Rock Port Public Schools. She graduated from Rock Port High School with the Class of 1937. On January 14, 1939, Frieda was united in marriage with Donald Edward Millikan in Rock Port. To this union, three children were born, Jack, Karon and Jerry. They made their home in Rock Port until moving to Shenandoah, Iowa, in 1944. Frieda worked as a housekeeper and cleaned houses for Miss Helen Kline, Mrs. Wayne McManama, Mrs. William Tarpenning and ironed for Lewis cleaners. She also worked for the Tall Corn Motel and in Sally Bradley's Fur Shoppe. Frieda was a member of the Shenandoah Trinity Lutheran Church. Frieda was excellent cook and loved cooking for her family. She liked visiting with people and especially enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding Frieda in death were her parents; husband, Donald; an infant brother; infant sister, Lauretta; brother, George; four sisters, Glenda, Anna, Juanita and Agnes; and special friend, Duane Gowing. Survivors include her three children, Jack Millikan and his wife Marilyn of Buffalo, Kansas; Karon Spears and her husband LeRoy of Shenandoah, Iowa; and Jerry Millikan and his wife Karon of Red Oak, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Mike Millikan and his wife Dawn of Omaha, Nebraska; Monica (Millikan) Byrne and her husband Tom of Overland Park, Kansas; Todd Millikan and his wife Dyanne of Shenandoah, Iowa; Lynette (Spears) Witzel and her husband Ryan of Lincoln, Nebraska; Donovan Spears of Kansas City, Missouri; Shawn Millikan and his wife Stephanie of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and Shad Millikan and his wife Anita of Elliott, Iowa; six great grandchildren, Michaela Millikan, Maggie Byrne, Caroline Byrne, Matthew Millikan, Seth Millikan and Leah Millikan. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Fern Millikan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 11, 2003, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah with Pastor Gary Jaeckle giving the words of comfort. Organist was Linda Micheel and vocalist was Dawn Millikan who sang "Just As I Am" and "How Great Thou Art". The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross". Caring for the flowers were Marjorie Freeze and Carma McLaren. Attending the register book were Ruth Dwyer and Loretta Monroe. Ushers were Larry Poppa and Mike Poppa. Honorary casket bearers were Glen Davey, Jack Gowing, Harley Greenwalt, Gary Haskin, Jerry Martin, Cliff Nielsen and Randy Poppa. Casket bearers were Mike Millikan, Todd Millikan, Donovan Spears, Shawn Millikan, Shad Millikan, Tom Byrne and Ryan Witzel. Interment was in the Green Hill Cemetery at Rock Port, Missouri.
Miller, Clinton Charles - Clinton Charles Miller was born February 13, 1923 near Farragut, Iowa, the son of Louie Charles and Ruth Virginia (Sanderson) Miller. He passed away on Monday afternoon, January 14, 2008 at the Ambassador Care Center in Sidney, Iowa following a lengthy illness. Clint attended school in Farragut and graduated from Farragut High School with the class of 1941. On April 2, 1944, he was married to Paulyne Hendrickson in Rock Port, Missouri. This union was blessed with three children; Terry, Lonnie Joe and Joan.
Clint farmed in the Farragut area for over 60 years. He also ran a Plumbing and Heating business during that time. Clint also worked for the Shull Hardware Store in Riverton for several years. He loved sports of all kinds, but most of all he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
Clint was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Paulyne of Farragut, Iowa, his children, Terry Miller and his wife Marsha of Shenandoah, Iowa, Lonnie Joe Miller and his wife Diane of Farragut, Iowa, Joan Kirk and her husband Gene of Farragut, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Jeff Miller, Dana Finnegan, Kelly Crowdes, Julie Clark, Mark Miller, Wendi Stenzel, Amy Gustafson, Kary Koso; nineteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Delbert Miller of Port Angeles, Washington, Leslie Bo Miller of Iowa, Eldon Miller and his wife Helen of Dekalb, Illinois; along with many other relatives and friends.
Mutchler, Mabel Leone Cummins - Mable passed away on Monday afternoon; September 15, 2008 at Garden View Care Center. There will be a private family viewing on Friday from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., prior to the graveside services.

Mabel Leone was born on April 21, 1930 in Iola, Kansas; the daughter of Charles Clinton and Rosetta (Ruby) Cummins. The death angel came to receive Mabel from her sufferings on Monday afternoon; September 15, 2008 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Mabel was the youngest of 13 children, whose early childhood was spent living throughout the Midwest. On March 14, 1946 she eloped to Iola, Kansas where she was united in marriage to Tully Mutchler. The couple then returned to Shenandoah where they raised their family.
Mabel was a devoted and hardworking farmwife and mother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and working in the garden. She also had a talent for sewing and made all of her children's clothing when they were younger. In her later years she enjoyed reading, researching genealogy, and visiting with her friends via e-mail. She felt that she was never to old to learn something new. Mabel was truly young at heart.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, beloved husband Tully who passed away in 1995, a granddaughter Carrie Linfor, a great-granddaughter Jody Christine Whitehill and her 12 siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Vickie Walters of Red Oak, Iowa, Linda Geer and husband Gary of Shenandoah, Iowa and Tom Mutchler and wife Shirley of Omaha, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services were held on Friday; September 19, 2008 at the Home Cemetery in Tarkio, Missouri with Rev. Joanne Johnson officiating. "Beyond The Sunset" and "Hymn Of Promise" were special musical selections for the services. Serving as Casket Bearers were Les McKenney, Byron Erickson, Randy Messenger, Richard Linfor, Jeff Geer and Allan Hummel.

Moore, Jo Ann Bales - Jo Ann Moore, age 75, of Laurie, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010, at her son’s home in Laurie. She was born October 27, 1934, in Braddyville, Iowa, the daughter of the late Clifford and Blanche Bailey Bales.

She was united in marriage to Melvin Moore, who preceded her in death on May 6, 2009.

Jo Ann was a member of the Tarkio United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Kenagy and wife, Brenda of Laurie, Missouri and Rodney Kenagy and wife, Dina of Gower, Missouri; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one on the way; and her brothers, Ron Bales and wife, Betty of Glenwood, Iowa and Roger Bales and wife, Thelma of Wichita, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rhonda Lea Kenagy.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, at the Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio, Missouri, with Pastor Rodney Kenagy officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Meier, Wintress Jane "Janie" - Wintress Jane (Janie) Meier, the daughter of Charles Henry and Wintress Lorene (Brindle) Meier was born July 19, 1941 in Fremont County, Iowa. She was most affectionately known as Janie and brought joy to her family and extended family and friends.

As one of God’s special children, she lived with her mother and was cared for by Wintress until she was no longer physically capable. While living on the family farm, Janie spent many hours sitting outside enjoying their pets. Upon entering the nursing home in 1998, many residents and staff extended their special attention and love to Janie.

Janie passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 68 years. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janie is survived by her aunt, Carmen Brindle, Houston, Texas; cousins, Elaine Meier and Sue Meier, Tarkio, Sheree Shaw and Tim, Westboro, Steven and Shari Meier, Essex, Iowa, Bob and Orma Meier, Tarkio, Phil and Janet Meier, Maryville, Jan and Gary Taylor, Fairfax, Lorie and Chris Hall, Tarkio, Mildred Muriel Pfeil, Rock Port and numerous other cousins.

Morrison, Everett Carl of Watson, died July 19, [1988], at the age of 69.

He was a veteran of WWII. While serving overseas he received 7 invasion badges and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Morrisville, Mo Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Marie; 4 daughters; Mrs Ed (Donna) Rains, Lincoln, Ne, Mrs Donald (Patricia) Larson, and Mrs Gilbert (Delores) Homes, both of Watson,and Mrs Mike (Julie) Graham of Hamburg, one son, Larry Morrison of Watson and 1 foster son, Bill Palmer of Knob Noster, Mo; 1 sister, Mrs Annabelle Kleasner of Santa Ana, Calif and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 21 at the Minter Funeral Cahpel in Rock Port, with the Rev Carroll Fischer officiating. Interment was in High Creek Cemetery.

Mather, Lewis M. "Luke" - Lewis M. "Luke" Mather was born May 18, 1910, near Tarkio, Mo., the son of James Louise Mather and Ida Jane Lyons. He died March 30, 1987, at the Highland Medical Center in Sebring, Fla., near the Mather's winter home. He was 76.

He attended schools in the Tarkio area and during his early life he farmed and later worked for the road district.

On Aug. 26, 1933, he was united in marriage to Imogene Chambers in Tarkio. In 1936 they moved to the Westboro, Mo. community. During 1943 he started Mather Construction and became involved in soil conservation. His two sons later joined him in 1959, forming Lewis Mather and Sons Inc. which remains in business.

Mather worked for over 20 years with the area summer baseball program. He was a member of the. Westboro United Methodist Church and the Northwest Lodge No. 358AF&AM of Tarkio.

Survivors are his wife Imogene of the home in Westboro, Mo.; sons and wives, Maurice Dean and Carol Mather, Shenandoah, Iowa and Phillip Duane "Butch" and Norma Mather, Westboro; three sisters, Jessie Mavity, Fairfax, Mo., Wilma Moody, Houston, Mo., and Mary Taylor, St. Joseph, Mo.; and one brother Harley Maher, Diamond Springs, Calif.

Also surviving are three grandsons, Phillip, Northboro, Iowa, Lewis Dean "Zeke" at Tarkio College and James Lynn at Doane College; five granddaughters, Janice Lea Mather, Plattsburg, Mo., Cindy Clark, Shenandoah, Krista Eash, Ceresco, Neb., Diane Livengood, Maryville, Mo., and Jennifer Mather, Westboro; and nine great-grandchildren, John, Mark, David and Michael Mather, Jill Clark, Hillary, Jordan and Leighton Eash and Danielle Mather.

Preceding Mather in death were his parents; infant brother James Louis; two sisters, Dorothy Kretchmer and Maude Carter; and one brother Harry.

Services were held April 3 at the United Methodist Church in Westboro with the Rev. Kyle Hern officiating. Music was by organist Norma Mattson and vocalists Mike and Krista Eash. Nancy Martin and Cleva Erickson were in charge of the register and memorials, and caring for flowers were Dorothy Green, Karen Beecher, Linda Schaefer and Marcia Beecher.

Serving as ushers were Mike Green, Carrol Green, Wayne Nelson and Dean Beecher. Honorary casket bearers were Cindy Clark, Janice Mather, Diane Livengood, Jennifer Mather, Krista Eash, Angie Mather and Monica Mather. Casket bearers were Jim Mather, Zeke Mather, Philip Mather, Mike Eash, Don Van Horn and Craig Livengood. A Lewis Mather Memorial Fund has been established. Interment was in Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro
 

Funeral services were held today (April 3) for Lewis "Luke" Mather, 76, of Westboro, Mo., who died March 30, 1987, in Sebring, Fla., where he had been spending the winter.
Services took place at 2 p.m. at the Westboro United Methodist Church with burial held in the Center Grove Cemetery near Westboro. A Lewis Mather Memorial Fund has been established.
Mather was the owner and operator of Lewis Mather and Sons Inc. Construction Co., Westboro.
Survivors include his wife Imogene of the home in Westboro; two sons, Dean Mather of Shenandoah and Phillip Mather, Westboro; eight grandchildren; nine great­grandchildren; one brother; and three sisters.

 

Wylma Johnson McCoy, 70, died Saturday afternoon, October 6,1990, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha where she had been since September 17.
She was born May 24, 1920 at Westboro, Mo., the daughter of William and Haddessa Root Johnson. May 26, 1940, she was married to H.A. (Shorty) McCoy who preceded her in death Sept. 11,1973. They lived in the Clarinda area since 1942. Mrs. McCoy was co-owner of the Branding Iron Cafe before her retirement.
She was a graduate of Westboro, Mo. High School and a member of the United Methodist Church at Westboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James (Karen) Straight, Shambaugh, la., and one granddaughter, Mrs. Brooke (Pallin) Turner, Braddyville, la.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be this Monday evening from 7-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m., at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home with Rev. Bettie Hull officiating.
Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery at Westboro, Mo.

Memorials may be directed to the heart fund.
 

George Henry Morgan, son of Daniel and Lacie Morgan, was born in Atchison County, Missouri, Dec. 7, 1864, and passed away on July 5,1948, at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 28 days. Mr. Morgan was the last of his family, being survived only by nieces and nephews.
He was married to Nettie Bell Buckston, who died in 1928. There were no children. He spent his entire life in this community. He was a farmer as long as he had good health, and took great pride in his crops. He was active in all of the affairs of the community and contributed generously to the Presbyterian church, of which he was a member. He had failed in health gradually and last week he was taken to the Hamburg hospital, where he passed away.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday, conducted by Rev L.C. Weitzenkamp, pastor of the Lutheran Church in Rock Port. Burial was at the Linden cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morgan and daughter of Chillicothe, Missouri,. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Morgan and daughter of Tarkio, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hudson of Riverton, Mrs. Virgie Morgan and her daughter and husband of Rock Port, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stanton and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence  Barnhart  all of Rock Port, attended the funeral of Geo. Morgan held in Watson Wednesday.
